Helping you maximize your field and investment.
The technology of synthetic (artificial) turf has advanced dramatically in recent years. However, contrary to popular belief and despite their significant upfront costs, synthetic fields are not actually maintenance-free.
To keep your synthetic turf field playable and safe, it’s important to perform regular maintenance. At Great Lakes Athletic Fields, we can customize a proper maintenance program that helps you get the full life out of your field, avoid major repairs, and minimize liability exposure due to negligence.
Our company’s roots may be in natural grass but our team also has extensive knowledge in the maintenance of synthetic (artificial) turf athletic fields. We currently manage these types of fields for multiple college athletics programs, and our experience includes synthetic turf maintenance for professional teams.
Over time and if left to withstand practices, competitions, and weather, synthetic turf can develop common problems such as compaction, organic build-up, and unsafe debris accumulation. We use a variety of maintenance techniques to avoid such issues:
At Great Lakes Athletic Fields, we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach to synthetic field maintenance. According to most turf manufacturers, maintenance guidelines are based on hours of use. In other words, the more often the field is used, the more frequently maintenance is needed. So our first job is evaluating your field’s use to determine an appropriate scope and schedule.
From there, our expert team uses specialized equipment and adheres to the latest STMA guidelines. We also work with and educate your organization’s staff on the best practice for maintaining your fields between our scheduled appointments.
